Goodsky is a personalised mental health retreat and outpatient program based in Australia. These self-assessment tools are provided to support personal reflection and understanding only and are not a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment.
If your results raise concerns, or if you’re seeking deeper support, our multidisciplinary team works with individuals through private, one-to-one mental health retreats and outpatient care to address underlying causes and support long-term recovery.
The PCL-5 Test is a widely used self-reporting measure designed to assess the presence and severity of PTSD symptoms. Recognised as one of the best and most reliable PTSD tests in the field, it provides a comprehensive evaluation that is both easy to administer and understand.
Goodsky is committed to supporting mental health and well-being, which is why we offer the PCL-5 Test free of charge and completely confidential to everyone on our website.
This reliable and valid tool helps individuals and healthcare providers understand the impact of traumatic experiences on mental health, allowing us to tailor our treatment plans and ensure each client receives the support and care they need to achieve lasting recovery and improved quality of life.
PTSD presents as the inability to regulate emotions and mood with intense episodes of anxiety, depression, hyper-vigilance, re-occurring thoughts and being highly sensitive to triggers such as smells, sounds, light, places and people.
There are many indicators of PTSD and complex PTSD, (C-PTSD), these are some of the most common signs.
If you experience any of the following PTSD symptoms we suggest taking the PCL-5 Test below.
At Goodsky, we use recognised self-assessment tools such as the PCL-5 to support understanding, continuity, and personalised mental health care. These tools help provide a consistent reference point alongside one-to-one therapy, nervous system regulation, and whole-person support.
Here’s how this PTSD self-assessment may be used in the context of Goodsky’s mental health retreats and outpatient programs:
Personal Reflection – The PCL-5 questionnaire on this page can help you reflect on how trauma-related symptoms may be affecting you right now. It’s designed to support self-understanding — not to diagnose or replace professional care.
Program Planning – For individuals considering a Goodsky PTSD or trauma-focused retreat, this type of assessment may help inform conversations about the most appropriate support and treatment approach.
Supporting Personalised Care – When someone participates in a retreat or outpatient program, standardised tools may be revisited alongside clinical insight to help tailor care to the individual’s needs.
Observing Change Over Time – In some cases, the same assessment may be used again before, during, or after care to help observe shifts and support ongoing recovery.
Standardised assessments are never used in isolation. At Goodsky, they sit within a broader, trauma-informed framework that focuses on safety, regulation, and addressing underlying causes — not labels or scores.
Welcome to the PCL-5 PTSD Test. The Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5) is a self-report tool designed to help you understand how past traumatic events may be impacting your mental and emotional well-being. Based on DSM-5 criteria, this 20-item test assesses the presence and severity of PTSD symptoms.
The PCL-5 can be used to track symptoms over time, screen for PTSD, and assist in making a preliminary diagnosis. Developed by staff at VA’s National Center for PTSD, it is not copyrighted and takes only 5-10 minutes to complete.
Please note, while the PCL-5 provides valuable insights, it should not be used alone for diagnosis. A thorough assessment by a clinician, including a structured interview like the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS-5), is necessary for a full diagnosis.
Measure your trauma responses in 5-10 minutes over 20 questions and you’ll get a clear score at the end. By taking this test, you’re making an important step towards understanding yourself better. Your responses are completely confidential and will help guide your next steps for mental health care.
Your privacy is our primary consideration and your test is completely confidential.

Even if you decide that Goodsky isn’t the right fit, our extensive experience in mental health allows us to discuss other options and recommend additional support available to you.
Our primary approach to all mental health treatments begins with bottom-up or somatic therapy, focusing on the body first. Traditional talk therapy can be less effective when dealing with trauma, especially if the traumatic events occurred at a young age.
It is useful to consider whether the traumatic event or events happened in childhood. Of course we understand it can be both. As a visitor to the website we encourage you to complete PCL-5 form above, which assesses the extent to which past traumatic events affect you now, and we also recommend completing the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Test, which considers traumatic events that occurred in childhood.

No. While the PCL-5 PTSD test is a clinically recognised test, it is first and foremost a self-reporting tool. The PTSD test helps you understand your current mental and physical health (dysregulated nervous system) and helps your treatment team better understand your needs. For a complete assessment please contact us for more information.
Goodsky uses this tool in our programs to guide treatment and measure how you are responding to the levels of care. It provides feedback through your program and helps us to adapt treatments to your individual needs and progress.
Yes, the PCL-5 test measures all major aspects of PTSD and C-PTSD. The PTSD score (PTSD Likely or PTSD Not Likely) offers a guide to your current reactions to the questions and is helpful in understanding how you can get help and the correct treatment.
The Goodsky PCL-5 will present you with your PTSD scores which can fall into the following categories – PTSD Likely or PTSD Not Likely. The threshold for a rating of PTSD Likely is 31. Anything under 31 will be rated as PTSD Not Likely.
If you would like to discuss your scores and the PTSD treatments available to you please call us on 1800 940 962 and we can guide you through it.
