Post-traumatic stress disorder or injury is a diagnosis of an individual that has been unable to recover or heal after a traumatic event or set circumstances that they have been witness to. PTSD presents as the inability to regulate emotions and mood with intense episodes of anxiety, depression, hyper-vigilance, re-occurring thoughts and highly sensitive to triggers such as smells, sounds, places and people.
Other symptoms of PTSD include:

- loss of meaning in life or direction

There are many factors as to what causes PTSD and to whom it may affect. Causes of PTSD can be:

- Workplace exposure such as police, paramedics, ER medical staff and military personnel

- Violent crimes
- Domestic violence
- Sexual, verbal, physical assault
Causes of PTSD is any event that is traumatic or terrifying that an individual may have been part of or witnessed directly.
